Dear readers, the sixth issue of Detektor revue is currently ‘rolling off the press’, so allow me to give you a little taster of its contents. We kicked off the sixth instalment with the ‘Find of the Month’, bearing the promising title ‘Guards from the Moss and Ferns’, but I won’t reveal exactly what the find is – that would spoil the surprise. What follows is an interview with a colleague whose identity is concealed behind the nickname ‘Bohemian’ and who has found a relatively large number of badges for minesweeper crews – badges that are not particularly typical for our landlocked country. On the following pages, journalist Josef Procházka (whom you will recognise from previous years’ series such as ‘Treasures of the Balkans’ and ‘Marobud’s Empire in Boiohaem’) offers us a glimpse into the history of bureaucracy and shows us various interesting documents and identity cards. In this edition’s ‘Poll’ section, we asked metal detectorists whether they drink alcohol whilst searching, and their answers surprised us on more than one occasion. Next comes the conclusion of Mr Wood’s study, aptly titled ‘Legionnaires and Railwaymen’; after that, we shall take a slightly more refined approach and, together with collector Jiří Hlavnička, delve into the world of thimbles. Those of you who have been reading us for some time will certainly know that we also give space in the magazine to our colleagues from Slovakia, so in issue six you can look forward to the article ‘A Walk Across the Dargov Battlefield’. As well as regular features, such as the series on sacred objects, the advice column, ‘Snippets’ and the readers’ letters section, the magazine contains a total of three articles on searching and finds in the Sudetenland (by Vrbka, Luboš Grill and Lukky), whilst military enthusiasts are sure to enjoy a metal-detecting article by our colleague Cimrman, a review of a book on aviation badges, or Jan Škarka’s now-traditional study on the 15cm howitzer. The final section of the magazine is then devoted to a short story by Václav Moravec entitled ‘How a Pervert Tried to Pick Me Up’, and we are also publishing a list of entries for the readers’ competition here, from which you can vote to select the lucky winner of a metal detector.

Distribution to subscribers begins tomorrow, i.e. 12 September 2014, and this new issue will also be available for purchase tomorrow afternoon at our editorial offices at Žitná 2, Prague 2.
