Historical introduction: prices, events and dates refer to the original publication.
Dear readers, it is my pleasure to inform you that the new issue of Detektor Revue has left the printers and is on its way to your letterboxes. We are all aware of the significant delay, which is inconvenient not only for you but, of course, for us as well. Please accept our apologies and rest assured that we will endeavour to make up for this backlog as soon as possible. Issue 2/2013 is almost complete and will be published in early January. Another new feature is the magazine’s fresh new layout; we hope you’ll like it.
As usual, we’re bringing you a little taster of the contents so you know what to look forward to. We begin this issue with the discovery of a hoard of silver Hallen pheasants, including interviews with the finder and an archaeologist; you can then learn about the restoration skills of our colleague Megy, who has embarked on an extensive restoration of an SA dagger. ‘Treasure hunters’ will certainly appreciate the article on the bronze hoard, whilst for ‘war enthusiasts’ we have Dutch’s find of ID tags, including a link to a video recording straight from the event. We shall commemorate the anniversary of the establishment of the internment camp in Svatobořice, and, together with researcher Josef Procházka, you can embark for the third time on a quest to uncover the mysterious Marobud estate. We will then look back at the successful exhibition of buttons and other metal artefacts, mainly from the collections of our colleague Jezero. The magazine also features a study by the military technology historian Jan Škarka, as well as two further numismatic studies and one study on phaleristics.
Editor-in-chief Adam Krejčík and publisher Miroslav UC Kratochvíl wish you an enjoyable read.
