Dear readers, it is my pleasure to inform you that the third issue of Detektor revue has finally been printed and should already be in your letterboxes.
As usual, here is a small taster of the contents. Those interested in military history and faleristics will certainly enjoy Aleš Lojda’s article with the telling title ‘Two Commemorative Medals for the War of 1866’. Below is an interview with our leading numismatist, J. Militkým – we’ll be talking about a recent unique find of silver coins near Jílové. Metal-detectorists’ journeys can vary greatly, as demonstrated by the extraordinary experience recounted to us by a witness to the search for the Sudeten depot. Our colleague Paul 2 will share his fruitful treasure-hunting experiences with you, whilst Chmelová’s in-depth study of stamps explores an interesting field of collecting. This is followed by a lovely article by our colleague Kladívko about his treasure-hunting expedition, and then a short piece on the history of the domestic resistance movement. The Charm of Thimbles – this is how my colleague Patriot titled his excellent and comprehensive work on the history of thimbles. I need not introduce Jan Škarka, a researcher in the field of military technology history; on this occasion, he has prepared a treatise for us on the 2cm anti-aircraft machine gun, model 36. In the traditional treasure-hunters’ survey, you’ll find out which tools can be used to dig up the indicated objects, followed by a piece charting the wartime experiences of J. Nesnídala in the Czechoslovak Foreign Army and the short story Ahasver by Zdeněk Jarchovský. I hope you enjoy the third issue of the magazine and that we’ll meet again soon for the next issue.
