Dear readers, the first issue of this year’s Detektor revue magazine has finally been printed and, if it has not yet reached your homes, it is waiting for you at the usual outlets. As usual, we’re bringing you a little taster of the magazine’s content. We opened the first issue with an article by Kajman about his interesting finds, followed by a numismatic essay by Ing. Pavel Moravec, CSc., on Cypriot currency, which we have supplemented with further texts relating to this interesting numismatic topic. After that, our colleague Huťásek will tell you about his success in the woods. Using material from the archives, we have prepared an interesting article for you describing the transformation of a field during the war. Our colleague Aleš Lojda has prepared an article this time on two relatively rare medals from the so-called Coalition Wars; afterwards, you can read about the results of our colleague Wood’s investigation into the bombing of Dobřany, which he supplemented with a metal detector survey. What follows is a curiosity that is sure to captivate any collector of military artefacts, particularly cold steel. Collectors of religious artefacts will certainly appreciate our colleague Skaja’s study on a frequently found religious artefact, which we have supplemented with a description of individual variants; we have then included in the magazine an account of a search in a suburban location that proved surprising. If you recall UCe’s discovery of mysterious glass ampoules from the German army – which we published last year – be sure to read Zdeněk Horák’s study, which finally sheds light on this mystery. Our colleague Moltke has prepared a follow-up piece for you on artillery from the War of 1866, followed by a treasure-hunters’ survey. You can also look forward to a piece by Jan Škarka, a short story by Václav Moravec and our advice column.
