Dear readers,

The first issue of DR magazine has been in your letterboxes for quite some time now, yet, as is our tradition, we cannot resist a brief reminder intended primarily for those who purchase the magazine from regular stockists. We kicked off the first issue with an article by Zdeněk Procházka on the discovery of an interesting silver coin, followed by a piece with the evocative title ‘Expedition to the Field of Dreams’. A real treat for lovers of faleristics will undoubtedly be Aleš Lojda’s article on Chinese order stars; you can also look forward to a report by our UC colleague from a frozen retreat route. What follows is a study from a series of highly professional works by the researcher Jan Škarka, this time on the 3.7 cm anti-tank gun. The regular column ‘Snippets from Hawk the Treasure Hunter’ brings us the latest news from home and abroad, after which you can feast your eyes on treasures from Acci’s photo archive, which accompany his remarkable article ‘Under the Imperial Propeller’. ‘Help Yourself’ is the title of a short story by Zdeněk Jarchovský, inspired by the famous treasure from southern Moravia. You can read about Mr Wood’s underground research in the article ‘Mining Archaeology’. An unusual and little-known weapon from the Second World War will be presented to us by Staff Sergeant. Zdeněk Horák, followed by the advice column and the first instalment of the series by non-fiction author Jan Kux, In the Footsteps of the Czechoslovak Legions’ Battles in Russia, an extract from a new book by our colleague J. Brixe and much more.

Adam Krejčík, editor-in-chief, and Miroslav UC Kratochvíl, publisher, wish you an enjoyable read.
