Dear readers, the second issue of Detektor revue has now arrived in your letterboxes. For those of you who buy the magazine from regular outlets, we’re bringing you a little taster, as usual. We open the second issue with a report on the second treasure-hunting expedition to ‘Kurlandy’, followed by an article on the discovery of a 16th-century gold Arab coin. If Václav Moravec’s horror-style treasure-hunting short story gets your nerves a bit on edge, you might find some reassurance in the contribution sent to us by a colleague writing under the pseudonym Jan Kopáč. If you were intrigued by Antonín Gibiš’s study on the Prussian–Austrian wars in the previous issue, you can look forward to the conclusion in this issue.

Acci’s incredible archive of historical photographs has once again yielded some gems, so let yourself be surprised. UCe’s underwater search for and discovery of gold in Bermuda has become a regular feature of the holiday season, and this year, once again, Velký Mrcas did not forget his assistant, even underwater. A new section, which you will be seeing on the magazine’s website for the first time, is called ‘Advice Corner’ and is dedicated to identifying finds and answering the enquiries you have sent us. For the first time, you also have the opportunity to learn about the treasure-hunting association from Byšice (Association of Seekers of Lost History) on the Detektor revue website, which organised an interesting exhibition for the residents of their home village. Those of you who have become somewhat hooked on colleague Lišák’s brilliant restoration pieces, do not despair, because Lišák has prepared a generous helping of them for you this time. History enthusiasts will undoubtedly be delighted by an extract from a new book on the Black Brigades of the Italian Fascists or an extensive excerpt from the diary of a First World War prisoner of war…

We would also like to thank you for your patience regarding the delay in this issue. We are working hard and are confident that we will manage to publish a further four issues by the end of the year, and from the new year onwards the magazine will be published according to schedule.
