Historical introduction: prices, events and dates refer to the original publication.
On Friday 20 June, the third issue of DR magazine this year was published, the fifth in the series overall. Regular readers will certainly not be surprised by established sections such as ‘sacred objects’, ‘ammunition’, ‘seals’, ‘short story’ etc. In addition, you can look forward to an article on tin soldiers and a report on the recovery of the torso of a tank destroyer from the bottom of the Brno Reservoir, which naturally also includes the history and period photographs of the dramatic events at the end of the war in the area around the reservoir.
The versatile collector Aleš Lojda will guide you through his collection of Scottish and Canadian cap badges, whilst Zdeněk Jarchovský will introduce you to the world of metal-detecting coils.
Last time, we introduced two new sections: ‘Attic finds’ and ‘Home restoration’. As for the attic finds, I’d like to thank you for the photographs you’ve sent us of them. If you have any interesting finds from your attic at home, we’d be happy to publish them.
In this instalment of ‘The Home Restorer’, Lišák has prepared for you a beautifully documented and described restoration of a field gendarmerie ‘slinták’.
In DR3/08, we will also bid farewell to the Czechoslovak LT vz. 35 light tank, the history of which was so expertly recounted to us by Daniel P., a member of the Difrological Club. Minár. All that remains is for us to thank Daniel for a job well done and to look forward to further insightful articles – which we are not the only ones looking forward to; judging by the numerous responses, you, the readers, are too. The same can be said of Jezer’s series on seals, which has been a regular feature for you since the very first issue of the magazine. We would like to thank Jezer and look forward to his future work – whether on buttons or on utility or labour badges.
But I almost forgot about the ‘Finds’ section, where you can enjoy not only photographs of the ‘Donation Ring’ find, which caused quite a stir on Detektorweb some time ago.
I hope you enjoy reading this. Adam Krejčík
